Privacy policy
Last updated: {{TBD: date this policy was approved by the client}}
This policy explains what Toronto Prime Locksmith collects through this website, why, how long it is kept, and how to ask for it to be deleted. It is written to the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), the federal Canadian law that applies to a business of this kind in Ontario.
What this site collects
One thing: what you type into the callback form. That is your name, the phone number you want called, optionally the city and the service you selected, and anything you write in the message box. Nothing else on this site collects personal information.
There are no accounts, no logins, no newsletter, and no comment section. We do not ask for an email address, a home address, a date of birth, or any payment detail through this website. Payment for work is handled at the job, not here.
Calling the phone number is not covered by this policy, because it does not go through this website. A call reaches the shop directly.
Why we collect it
To call you back about the job you asked about. That is the only purpose. We do not use form submissions for marketing, we do not add you to any list, and we do not sell, rent, or share the information with anyone who is not helping us deliver the work.
How long it is kept
{{TBD: how long the client keeps callback enquiries, and enquiries that did not become jobs. A common answer is 24 months for completed jobs and 6 months for enquiries that went nowhere, but this must be the client's actual practice, not a number chosen here.}}
Submissions are delivered to the business by a third party form service, which also retains a copy on its own servers under its own retention policy. {{TBD: name the form provider once config/forms.ts is filled in, and link its privacy policy.}}
Cookies and measurement
This site sets no cookies of its own. There is no analytics package, no session tracking, no advertising pixel from a social network, and no consent banner, because there is nothing to consent to.
Google Ads conversion tracking is prepared but not yet switched on. When it is enabled it will record that a visit arriving from one of our ads resulted in a phone tap or a form submission, and it will set cookies from google.com and googleadservices.com under Google’s own privacy policy. This section will be updated at that point. {{TBD: confirm before launch that this paragraph matches reality}}
Standard web server logs record the usual technical details of a request, including an IP address, for security and for keeping the site running. They are not used to build a profile of you.
Who else sees it
Our form provider, which transports the submission, and our hosting provider, which runs the site. Both act on our instructions. Nobody else, unless we are legally required to disclose something.
Those providers may store or process data outside Canada. Where that happens, the information is subject to the laws of the country it sits in. {{TBD: confirm the hosting region and the form provider region}}
Your rights, and how to use them
Under PIPEDA you can ask what personal information we hold about you, ask for a copy, ask us to correct it if it is wrong, and ask us to delete it. You can also withdraw consent for us to hold it, though we may not be able to complete work in progress if you do.
To make any of those requests, email {{TBD: privacy and general enquiries email}} or call (289) 460-1916 and say it is a privacy request. Please give us enough detail to find the record, which is usually the phone number you submitted and roughly when. We will respond within 30 days, which is the period PIPEDA sets.
If you are not satisfied with how we handle it, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada at priv.gc.ca.
Keeping it safe
The site is served over HTTPS, so what you type into the form is encrypted in transit. Access to submissions is limited to the people at the business who need it to do the work.
No transmission over the internet is perfectly secure, and we will not claim otherwise. Do not put anything in the message box that you would not want read by somebody other than us, and never send payment details, identification numbers, or passwords through this form. We will never ask for any of those here.
Children
This site is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has submitted the form, call us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the date at the top of the page changes with it. Material changes to what we collect or why will be described here rather than made quietly.
