Mobile car locksmith across Toronto and the GTA

A car locksmith in Toronto comes to the vehicle rather than the other way round. Car lockouts, keys stuck in the ignition, keys that have snapped off in a door or an ignition, and door lock repairs are all done where the car is parked, across the GTA, at any hour.

Give us the make, model, and year on the call. Most cars can be opened without damage, but some newer vehicles have door systems no locksmith can bypass without dealer equipment, and you should know that before you wait rather than after.

Car door unlock

Modern car doors are opened with wedges and long reach tools rather than the coat hanger of popular imagination, which is exactly the technique that damages weather seals, wiring looms, and airbag sensors inside a door card.

Tell us where the car is. A vehicle in an underground garage, on a driveway, or on a street with restricted parking are three different visits, and the middle one is the simplest.

If a child or a pet is locked in the car, call 911 before you call us.

Key stuck in the ignition

This is usually neither the key nor the lock. On most cars the ignition will not release the key unless the transmission has fully seated in park and the steering lock is not under load. Rock the steering wheel gently while turning the key, and check the gear selector is properly in park.

If it still will not move, stop. Forcing a key that is bound in an ignition is how it snaps off inside, which turns a five minute problem into an ignition cylinder job.

Broken keys and worn door locks

A key that has snapped in a door or an ignition can normally be extracted and, if the blade is not worn out, put back into service. Leave the broken piece where it is until a technician sees it.

A key that has started to feel loose, or that only works if you jiggle it, is telling you the wafers in the lock are worn. That is the point to get it looked at, not after it strands you.

What a mobile auto locksmith cannot do

We are straightforward about the limits. Some vehicles need dealer-only equipment for door entry or for key programming. Some immobiliser systems deliberately erase existing keys when a new one is programmed after all keys are lost. And a car under a manufacturer warranty may have terms about who works on it.

All three are things we will tell you on the phone, because a wasted call-out helps nobody.

Car locksmith: common questions

Do I have to get the car towed to you?

No. Automotive work is done at the vehicle, wherever it is parked, across all ten cities we cover. Tell us where the car is and whether it is in a garage, a driveway, or on the street.

My key is stuck in the ignition and will not turn. Is that the key or the car?

It is often neither. On most cars the ignition will not release the key unless the transmission is fully in park and the steering lock is not loaded. Try rocking the steering wheel gently while turning the key, and check the gear selector has seated. If it still will not move, stop, because forcing it can break the key off inside the ignition.

Can you open any car?

Most, but not all. Some newer vehicles have door systems that no locksmith can bypass without dealer equipment. Give us the make, model, and year on the call and we will tell you before you wait for a technician rather than after.

Something not covered here? Call (289) 460-1916 and ask. We would rather answer it on the phone than have you guess.
