Master key systems

A master key system is a keying arrangement where each person's key opens only the doors they need, while one master opens all of them. It is worth doing once you have several doors and several people at different levels of access.

For a single unit with one door it is unnecessary complication. For a building with a front door, a shared corridor, four tenants, and a service room, it is the difference between a keyring and a filing problem. We will tell you which side of that line you are on.

Office rekey after an employee leaves

Write down every door the person could open and every key still unaccounted for before you book. A rekey that misses the stock room key is not a rekey.

Decide too whether anything should stay on its own separate key. A filing room, a server cupboard, a cash office, or a medication cabinet usually should not be folded into the same key as the front door just because it is convenient this week.

Panic bars, door closers, and fire doors

A panic bar that has stopped latching is a security problem and, on a designated fire exit, a compliance problem as well. Most stop latching because the strike has moved or the latch has worn, and both are repairable without replacing the device.

Door closers that slam, drag, or leave a door standing open are almost always adjustable. Where they are not, they can be swapped with the door staying in service through the visit.

Working around your hours

Commercial work is disruptive during trading. Because we are open 24 hours, a rekey, a lock change, or a closer replacement can be booked for the evening, overnight, or a weekend instead of costing you part of a working day.

Tell us the number of doors and the number of keys you need when you call. Those two numbers decide almost the whole quote.
