Lockout service in Toronto for houses, cars, and businesses
If you are locked out of your house in Toronto, of a car, or of a business, the lock can usually be opened without damage and without replacing anything. Picking and bypassing are the normal route. Drilling is a last resort, and you would be told before it happened.
Call and describe the lock. Most residential and commercial cylinders open cleanly. High security cylinders and some multi-point door systems are the genuine exceptions, and we will tell you honestly which you have before you commit to anything.
If this is happening right now
Key locked inside
Check every other door and any ground floor window before you call. If a neighbour or a building superintendent holds a spare, that is faster than we are.
Locked out of your house
Before you call, check every other door and any ground floor window. It is worth thirty seconds. If a neighbour, a family member, or a building superintendent holds a spare, that is faster than any locksmith.
If none of that helps, the two things that decide the job are the type of cylinder and whether the deadbolt was thrown. A latch on a spring lock is straightforward. A deadbolt thrown from the inside, meaning somebody locked it and left by another door, sometimes removes the option of working the latch and changes the tools the technician brings. Say which it is on the call.

The unit door is the job. The building is not. We cannot let ourselves into a lobby, so if your fob is inside with your keys, speak to the concierge, the superintendent, or a neighbour first so the technician can be admitted.
Most buildings will want to see identification tying you to the suite before anyone touches the door, and some require the property manager present. Having that arranged before we arrive is the difference between a short visit and a long one.
Car lockouts
Car lockouts are done at the vehicle, wherever it is parked. Give us the make, model, and year on the call, because some newer vehicles have door systems that cannot be bypassed without dealer equipment, and it is far better to know that before you wait than after.
If a child or a pet is shut inside a car, call 911 first. That is not a locksmith call.
Business and storefront lockouts
Commercial doors are usually simpler than people expect, but the paperwork is stricter. We need to see that you have authority over the premises, which normally means a lease, a business record, or identification matching the licence on the door.
If a storefront cylinder has reached the point where the key turns halfway and stops, that is not a lockout, it is a worn cylinder telling you it is about to become one. Getting it changed on a quiet afternoon costs less than getting it opened at midnight.

Lockout service: common questions
How do I know you can open it without damage?
In most cases the cylinder can be picked or bypassed and nothing is replaced. High security cylinders and some multi-point door systems are the exception. Describe the lock on the call, or send a photograph of it, and we will tell you honestly which category it falls into before you commit to anything.
I am locked out of a rented apartment. Can you let me in?
If you can show identification tying you to the unit, or a lease, yes. If you cannot, we cannot, no matter how genuine the situation is. In a building with a superintendent, they are usually the faster route and it costs you nothing to try them first.
The key is inside and the door has a deadbolt thrown from the inside. Does that change things?
It can. A deadbolt thrown from inside means somebody locked it and left by another door, and on some doors that removes the option of working the latch. Say so when you call, because it changes the tools the technician brings.
Something not covered here? Call (289) 460-1916 and ask. We would rather answer it on the phone than have you guess.
